Restrictions

General Information

There are items that cannot be transported onboard the aircraft in either your carry-on or checked baggage:

  • Items prohibited by laws, regulations or restrictions by countries in your travel itinerary and/or items identified by EVA Air as unsuitable for carriage because of weight, size or nature.
  • Live animals, except for dogs, cats, rabbits and seeing eye/hearing aid dogs that are safely transported in accordance with EVA Air's requirements.
  • Dangerous goods that endanger the aircraft, persons or property onboard the aircraft:
    1. Compressed gases, e.g., canned butane, scuba oxygen bottles, aqualung cylinders, paint in spray can, insecticides, propane, hydrogen, acetylene, oxygen bottles, liquid nitrogen, , etc.
    2. Corrosives, e.g., acids, alkalis, mercury and mercury-containing devices, lead-acid batteries and wet-cell batteries.
    3. Explosives, e.g., munitions, ammunitions, fireworks, firecrackers , flares, etc.
    4. Flammable liquids and solids, e.g., kerosene, lighter fuel, “blue flame” or “cigar” lighters, matches, paints, thinners, fire lighters and related flammable solids, etc.
    5. Radioactive materials.
    6. Briefcases and attached cases with built-in alarm devices.
    7. Oxidizing materials, e.g., bleaching powder, peroxides, etc.
    8. Poisons and infectious substances, e.g., arsenic, weed-killers, insecticides and live-virus materials.
    9. Other dangerous articles such as asbestos, magnetized material, offensive or irritating materials (such as tear-gas, pepper spray, stun guns, tasers, etc.)

Note

  1. Sporting pistol, revolver and its munitions are allowed to be carried in checked baggage.  Please contact EVA Air for details.
  2. Stun guns, compressed spray gas, adjustable billy, etc. are strictly prohibited in both checked baggage and carry-ons while travelling to/from/via Hong Kong and Macau. If such an item is found with you by the government officers of Hong Kong/Macau, you might face a serious detailed inspection.
  3. Regarding lithium batteries, please be noted the following regulations:    

       (1) Limitation for Spare Batteries

             - Protect Individually: The battery terminals are protected from short circuits, e.g. by placing each battery in its own protective case, by taping over exposed terminals or by placing in plastic bag.

             - Carry-on Baggage Only: Do not check in baggage.

       (2) Without the Approval of the Airlines

             Portable Electronic Devices (Watch, Calculator, Camera, Cellular Phone, Laptop, Video, etc.)

       (3) With the Approval of the Airlines

            - Not more than two 100Wh-160Wh spare lithium-ion batteries may be carried in carry-on baggage by each person.

            - Under UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III, subsection 38.3: Wheelchairs/Mobility Aids with Lithium, Security-Type Equipment, Portable Medical Electronic Devices

 

You can also refer to the regulations published by the Taiwan CAA (Civil Aeronautics Administration) according to the rules of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).

 

 

Liquids/Gels/Aerosols Restrictions

Liguids BaggageClick herefor the latest regulations published by the TSA (U.S. Transportation Security Administration) for prohibited items as carry-ons.

Special regulations:

  • Liquids, aerosols and gels will only be allowed in cabin baggage if they are kept in containers with volumes of not more than 100 ml each.
  • These containers must be carried in a clear, re-sealable plastic bag. The total volume of the bag must not exceed 1 liter.
  • Each person is allowed to carry only one plastic bag.
  • At the security check point, the bag must be removed from your carry-ons and presented to security personnel for visual examination.

Medications and special dietary requirements, including baby formula :

  • Are permitted in the cabin baggage
  • Must be removed from cabin baggage and declared to security personnel at the checkpoint.
  • Customers with prescription medicine are advised to bring along supporting documentation (e.g. ID cards, letters from doctors)

New Security Measures for Passenger Cabin Baggage from Taiwan Civil Aeronautics Administration with effective from May 16th, 2008:

  • Transit/transfer at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport or Kaohsiung International airport (include connecting flights to Kaohsiung)
    please purchase your duty-free items after on board the transit / transfer flights. Any duty-free liquids, aerosols or gels that are purchased before transit/transfer in Taiwan might be discarded at the security check point.
  • Flights from Taiwan
    New rules on what is permitted in cabin baggage went into effect March 1st, 2007. The regulations cover all liquids, aerosols and gels. They will affect customers flying from Taiwan, including transfer and transit customers. You are advised to pack your cabin baggage accordingly so as to avoid unnecessary inconvenience.
  • Duty-free purchases
    1. Liquids, aerosols and gels purchased from duty-free shops in Taiwan airports, located after security screening points, will be allowed onboard.
    2. However, these items must be packed in a transparent, sealed plastic bag. Receipts of the purchased duty free items must be attached or packed in the bag.

Do not pack in your checked baggage these items 

Please do not pack the following items in your checked baggage: fragile or perishable items, items having a special value such as money, jewels, precious metals, any computers, personal electronic devices, negotiable papers, securities, or other valuables, business documents, passports and other identification documents, or samples.

Items prohibited in the cabin 

Except hearing aids and pacemakers, electronic devices including mobile phones, radios, remote control toys, walkie-talkies, are prohibited in the cabin. Please refer to aviation regulations and consult the cabin crew before using.
