EVA AIR Board Promotes Two Top Executives
The EVA Airways Corporation Board of Directors promoted Mr. Steve Lin from his position as President to Chairman, and elevated Mr. K.W. Chang from the post of Chief Executive Vice President to President. The appointments are effective on Jan. 1, 2005. Previous EVA Air Chairman K.C. Chang will serve as Vice Group Chairman of the Evergreen Group and as Chairman of Evergreen Marine Corporation.
The two top EVA executives both worked up through the ranks of the Evergreen Group, fulfilling a variety of duties and learning about the company from bottom to top. The wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience that these two executives bring to EVA’s top leadership positions creates potential for the airline’s increasingly brilliant performance.
“Serving in positions with steadily growing responsibilities, both of these executives have hands-on experience in both passenger and cargo operations, and have been deeply immersed in the management infrastructure,” said Evergreen Group Chairman Dr. Yung-Fa Chang. “They give EVA Air a very strong leadership team.”
Steve Lin, who joined the Evergreen Group at entry level in 1976, has been president of the airline since 2003. During the course of his career, Mr. Lin has held posts at Evergreen Marine, Evergreen International Corporation, Evergreen Computer Information Corporation and Evergreen Airlines Services Corporation. He is an honors graduate of Tamkang University in Taiwan, and holds a degree in computer science.
K.W. Chang joined EVA in 1996 in an entry-level position at Chiang Kai-Shek International Airport in Taiwan. He was named Chief Executive Vice President of the company in 2003. His expertise has piloted the carrier into the next generation of aircraft and technology with the launch of Premium Laurel, an innovative new top class of cabin service, and other technologically advanced onboard systems that were all introduced with the deployment of EVA’s first Airbus A330-200. He gained valuable transportation marketing experience from a year in sales at Evergreen Marine, but has spent most of his career with the airline. Mr. Chang holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California and a M.A. in Economics from California State University.
