'Vientiane is an excellent addition to our Southeast Asia network,' said K. W. Nieh, executive vice president for EVA Air. 'In cooperation with leading travel agents, we have already developed a series of group packages for trips entering from Hanoi, Bangkok, and Phnom Penh that end in Vientiane for the inaugural flights. And, to accommodate demand and interest, we will create more attractive travel products in the near future.'
Unspoiled by industry or tourism, Laos is a country of rugged mountains and thick forests. The northern landscape features soaring peaks, including Mount Phou Bia that stands 2,819 meters (9,246 ft.) above sea level. The southern landscape is lower with wide valleys and sweeping plateaus. It is the only country in Indochina that is completely landlocked. It shares long borders with Vietnam to the east and Thailand to the west. Mainland China is on the north and Cambodia to the south.
In addition to its extensive network within Asia, EVA Air serves a steadily growing route system of major destinations in Oceania, Europe and North America. Its innovations in service have included one of the airline industry’s first premium economy classes in the early ‘90s, and now, a rollout of new aircraft equipped with Audio/Video on Demand systems in all cabin classes. |
