Evergreen Air Cargo Services Corp Gains A-Class TAPA Certification

On August 3, Evergreen Air Cargo Services received the results of an audit by the Technology Asset Protection Association (TAPA) Asia. Evergreen Air Cargo Services was awarded class A certification, becoming the only air cargo operation in Taiwan to pass the audit as an individual company.

The transportation of high-tech goods is an all-important component of international trade. The giants of the electronics manufacturing world, such as Intel in the US, use only air cargo service providers with TAPA certification. Evergreen Air Cargo Services’ certification will increase client confidence in the company and will help raise service levels and competitiveness of air cargo service providers competing nationally. As an example, Nippon Express, Evergreen’s strategic ally and the biggest air cargo contractor in Japan, can now guarantee to its high-tech clients in Japan the safety of their goods in transit in Taiwan.

The Technology Asset Protection Association is a non-profit international organization comprising high-tech industries, shipping contractors and professional consultancies. The organization aims to ensure safe transportation of high-tech products and actively promotes the most advanced security operations.
The results of the safety audit are classified into three levels: A, B and C, with A being the highest score and C the lowest. The audit covers eight assessed focus areas and 73 examination items. The assessed focus areas include: perimeter security, access control (office areas), dock/warehouse security, security systems, security procedures, standard truck security, pre-alerts, and enhanced security requirements
Evergreen Air Cargo Services personnel made great efforts to win the highest grade of certification possible. Over the past year, security facilities were upgraded several times and related procedures were refined. A new digital video monitoring system was installed, including hundreds of cameras, alarms and new security control equipment. Nearly 50 security guards were stationed 24 hours a day to monitor all doors, windows and major passages. In June 2005, the company filed an application for the audit and gained level A certificate in August the same year, making it the only cargo service company in Taiwan to pass the audit in its entirety.
In line with government policies regarding Asia-Pacific and global business operations, Evergreen Air Cargo Services started operations on March 3, 2000, constructing an advanced cargo handling facility at CKS International Airport. At present, the company’s major clients include Intel, Hewlett Packard, Asus, TSMC, UMC and NEC.
While Evergreen Air Cargo Services is pleased with the results of the audit, the company remains committed to growth and improvement. It will abide by the regulations of the association to ensure the safety of goods entrusted into its care. Evergreen Air Cargo Services will abide by its principles of safety first, active prevention measures and no compromises to achieve its goal of becoming one of the best air-cargo service providers in the world.
