EVA Opens Southern China Cargo Center
New Hong Kong facility speeds air freight movement

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, (15 May, 2006) – EVA Air opened its new Southern China Cargo Center today (May 15, 2006) in Hong Kong, enabling it to more efficiently and quickly move air freight shipments in and out of the region.  The strategically located Center enhances EVA’s highly reliable cargo services and is especially designed to meet the needs of Taiwanese manufacturers with operations in the Southern China region.

EVA provides 10 freighter flights and 49 passenger flights to Hong Kong every week.  Current lift on the route is 9,000 tons of cargo per month.
EVA was encouraged to open the Cargo Center to more directly meet the growing demand for its services with a processing location closer to customers and to a growing community of cargo forwarders who now have Hong Kong branches that handle cargo business in Southern China.  The new facility also increases shipping flexibility, streamlines logistics, better integrates

cargo resources in Southern China, and gives the carrier more direct control over all of its import and export business in the region.  With improved market intelligence and increased opportunities for business cooperation within the region, EVA can more systematically plan and sell capacity, meeting an even higher standard of operating results.
The EVA Air Southern China Cargo Center strengthens the carriers shipping services throughout Mainland China as well as Hong Kong.  The carrier has already established Macau as a major shipping center through a flourishing cooperative arrangement with Shanghai Airlines for shipments moving to and from Shanghai.   The relationship enables EVA to transport consignees’ air cargo directly to Taipei.
EVA’s far-reaching network, service and reputation for reliability have led to its recognition as on of the world’s top-10 cargo carriers.  Using a fleet of three Boeing B747-400 and 14 MD-11 freighters plus nine B747-400 combi aircraft and highly effective cooperative relationships with Lufthansa, British Airways, Vietnam Airlines and Air Nippon, in addition to Shanghai Airlines, EVA has established a service network that extends to major cargo terminals Worldwide.
