Canada Border Services Certifies EVA for Electronic Cargo Clearance
Carrier implements new system in April, ahead of June 2006 deadline

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, (27 April, 2006) – EVA Air has been certified by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to electronically submit its air cargo manifest data electronically for customs clearance and is implementing the new system in April 2006.  The carrier passed the Canadian agency’s validation test for its Advance Commercial Information (ACI) system in February 2006, and is the first Taiwan-based airline to meet the new requirements.

EVA provides cargo services to Vancouver three times a week aboard a Boeing
B747-400 passenger aircraft with belly capacity of approximately 15 tons per flight.  The new ACI system is going to minimize processing time and speed the carrier’s air freight shipments through Canadian customs, elevating the high-quality service and reliability EVA’s customers count on.
CBSA set June 2006 as the deadline for

all freight carriers and forwarders to comply with the new system and end the current manual clearance process.  EVA is using Cargo Portal/File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to retrieve cargo and conveyance information from cargo agents.  It is using Master/House Air to transmit waybill data in CBSA’s new ACI system format.
Regulations require the data to be processed through the system four hours before the cargo arrives at the first Canadian port.
In addition to Vancouver, EVA Air Cargo gateways in North America are Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Atlanta, Seattle and San Francisco.
