EVA, Sanrio Unveil 2nd Hello Kitty Jet
Flying to Nagoya, Osaka and Sendai, starting Oct. 21

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, (20 Oct., 2006) – On the one-year anniversary of their introduction of the world’s first Hello Kitty Jet, EVA Air and Japan’s Sanrio Group have again teamed up to unveil a cheerful sequel.  The new Kitty Jet 2 and its themed crew and staff characters have been unveiled with a celebration of harmony at Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport on 20 Oct., 2006.

Sanrio President Kawai Yoshifumi and EVA Air President Peter Chen co-hosted the event and welcomed special guests that included Taoyuan County Governor C. L. Chu.
Kitty Jet Success Celebrated with Dance, Fanfare
Program headliners Kitty and her pilot friend Daniel led their troupe in the lively Rainbow Dance of Harmony Land.  A specially invited company of 35

aboriginal children from Taoyuan County treated guests to a traditional tribal dance that won the group first prize in Taiwan’s highly competitive national folk-dance championships.

“EVA Air has traditionally reached out to disadvantaged groups and supported nonprofit social programs,” said Peter Chen, EVA Air president.  “These children have unselfishly shared their culture and talent with us.  It is our privilege to give them an unforgettable experience onboard the EVA Kitty Jet Version 2.  In addition, EVA will be working in cooperation with Taoyuan County to benefit these children through future nonprofit activities.”

EVA Air Hello Kitty Service Team
The second Kitty Jet emphasizes the airline’s exceptional services by giving well-known Hello Kitty characters EVA identities. The colorful special-edition EVA Airbus 330-200 sequel is painted nose-to-tail with super-sized Hello Kitty characters cast as airline crew and staff.

A beaming Kitty in an EVA cabin-attendant uniform welcomes passengers onboard while Daniel confidently stands next the cockpit outfitted as one of the airline’s captains, ready to whisk families on merry flights to fun-filled destinations.  The perky Tippy bear wears a chef’s hat and holds a spoon, prepared to create Evergreen Sky Catering’s gourmet treats.  Teddy and Joy as maintenance professionals ensure that the Kitty Jet is in tip-top shape.  Tim, also in a maintenance uniform, makes sure nothing has been overlooked from the right wing while Tammy as a cabin attendant exudes friendly composure from the left wing.  Fiffy, Cathy the rabbit and Rory the squirrel are all colorfully clothed as EVA ground staff, escorting passengers onboard the Kitty Jet Version 2.

Transformed into EVA’s professional crew and staff, Sanrio’s celebrity characters weave fun and fantasy into travel to multiple destinations for young and old alike.

2nd Kitty Jet Flies to Nagoya, Osaka, Sendai
EVA has chosen Nagoya, Osaka and Sendai as destinations for the Kitty Jet Version 2, expanding and complementing its established Kitty Jet Service routes.  EVA launched its first Kitty Jet last year with service to Fukuoka and Tokyo.  The innovative exterior and its playful reflection in the aircraft’s cabin established a happy travel environment that continues to be in high demand for both Taiwanese and Japanese tourists.

Inflight Fantasy Land on Kitty Jet Version 2
The new Kitty Jet continues the legacy of charm, amenities and service quality that have helped make the first of these themed aircraft such an overwhelming success.

The cabin interior is a fantasy land with sweet Hello Kitty paintings on the walls, and friendly flight attendants wearing Hello Kitty ribbons in their hair and Hello Kitty aprons.  The Hello Kitty fun starts at check-in and lasts until luggage is claimed just as it does on EVA’s original Kitty Jet.  Passengers get pink Hello Kitty boarding passes and luggage tags.  Service onboard is accompanied by Hello Kitty accessories.  Menu choices include Hello Kitty meals with special Kitty ice cream, and passengers have access to exclusive EVA Hello Kitty duty-free shopping.
