Amsterdam Airport Schiphol Singles Out EVA for Efficient Airline Award
Carrier honored for optimal use of ground-support time at the airport

TAIPEI, TAIWAN (9 March, 2006) – Amsterdam Airport Schiphol selected EVA Air to receive its 2005 Efficient Airline Award in recognition of the carrier’s effective use of ground-support time for its intercontinental flights between Taiwan and the Dutch city.  The presentation was made at the annual Schiphol Aviation Awards Ceremony on 16 Feb., 2006

EVA’s efficiency on the ground at the airport was evaluated using an index that allowed comparison of all airlines serving Schiphol, regardless of variables that could have resulted from use of different types of aircraft.  Schiphol Group Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ad Rutten presented EVA’s honors and others including the Punctuality, Jan Delleart, Environmental Capacity, Passenger Airline Award, Cargo and Best Ground Handler Awards.

EVA began cargo services between Asia and Amsterdam in 1995 and introduced passenger services in 1997.  Today, it uses one of its Boeing 747-400 combis to provide four convenient, exceptionally comfortable flights a week to and from Taipei.  Strategically located in the heart of Northern Europe and offering excellent ground transportation connections onward to other major business and leisure centers, Amsterdam attracts more than 40 million visitors a year.  Consistently, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol earns high ratings from international travelers for its facilities and services.
EVA has developed a strategic route system that links four continents and also includes one of the industry’s most comprehensive networks within Asia.  With just one stop in Taipei, EVA passengers can easily connect to and from major travel and leisure destinations throughout the region.  In addition to Amsterdam, EVA passenger gateways in Europe include London, Paris and Vienna.  It also provides air freight services to London and Vienna, serves Frankfurt through a cooperative alliance, and operates a state-of-the-art cargo center in Brussels.
