EVA Air to deploy B777-300ER on Taipei-Osaka route, Hello Kitty Jet to fly to Hong Kong

July 02, 2007, Taipei – EVA Air has announced that its Hello Kitty Jet will fly to Hong Kong starting from July 2, 2007. The carrier will also gradually integrate the world’s most advanced B777-300ER onto its Taipei - Osaka route from July 1, 2007.

Osaka is the first destination in Japan to be served with EVA Air’s B777-300ERs, which will provide increased comfort for frequent flyers travelling between Taiwan and Japan.

“Our first Kitty Jet was launched on services linking Taiwan and Japan in October 2005 and proved so popular, that we launched a second jet last year. Traffic between the two destinations has increased substantially. We have had

lots of feedback from customers requesting a similar service to Hong Kong and expect it to be a big hit with our younger passengers.” Said Mr. K W Nieh, executive vice president for EVA Air.
EVA Air’s Osaka services will reduce from nine to seven flights per week without any reduction in capacity due to the use of the larger B777-300ER aircraft. EVA Air introduced its first B777-300ER in 2005 and now has a total of six in service with major routes to London and Los Angeles. The aircraft is currently the most technologically advanced in the world.

EVA Air’s new state-of-art cabins onboard its B777-300ERs are configured to carry 316 passengers in the three upgraded cabins with 42 seats in Premium Laurel Class, 63 in Elite, and 211 in Economy.

Each passenger has access to the personal interactive Star Gallery audio/video on demand (AVOD) entertainment system with movies, features, music, video games and shopping options. Satellite communications including digital air-to-ground short message service (SMS) in English and Chinese are also available. The aircraft is equipped with steam ovens, intelligent-memory foam seating, touch-free infrared faucets and an extra-wide 60-inch lavatory for passengers with special needs and baby changing.
