EVA Changes Paris Service to Freighter Flights
Passenger service ends in Nov. 2007, Cargo starts in Jan. 2008

TAPIEI, TAIWAN (28 Sept., 2007) -- EVA Air is initiating a pause in Taipei – Paris passenger flights, effective 23 Nov., 2007. Increasing demand on more profitable routes combined with high costs of fuel, compensation fees for over-fly routes and ongoing operating expenses led to the recess of the service.  The carrier will launch dedicated Taipei-Paris freighter service in Jan. 2008.  And, it will redeploy the new Boeing 777-300ERs it has been flying to Paris on the busy Taipei-Los Angeles passenger route to boost frequency from 17 to 20 flights per week.   The move is intended to benefit EVA’s overall operating performance.

Though the airline has suspended its Taipei – Paris passenger service, travelers can still visit the French capital by booking one of EVA’s frequent flights to other European gateways and connecting onward using convenient regional airlines or Eurail service.  EVA currently flies six regularly scheduled passenger flights to London each week, four to Amsterdam and three to Vienna.

In addition, EVA is exploring a possible agreement with another major airline so that it can continue to promote the French travel market by giving passengers competitive prices and

packages.  The airline is also working with travel agents and tour operators to design new trips to Paris from London, Amsterdam and Vienna via Eurail or interline arrangements with domestic airlines.  EVA has served the Paris passenger route for 14 years.

EVA is carrying full cargo loads to Europe and returning to Asia with freighters filled to 90 percent of capacity.  It will introduce its dedicated Taipei-Paris air cargo service with a MD-11 freighter, increasing capacity from Taipei to Europe and benefiting the EVA Air Cargo bottom line.

Information about the carrier’s passenger and cargo services is easily available via the EVA Air web site, http://www.evaair.com.
