EVA Air - The Art of Service
Official carrier brings near 120 treasures from Taipei to Vienna

TAIPEI, TAIWAN (13 Feb., 2008) -- As the official carrier for this stunning new exhibition, EVA Air is transporting irreplaceable masterpieces from Taipei to Vienna. “Treasures from the National Palace Museum, Taiwan” are being presented at the Kunsthistorisches Museum (KHM) in Vienna, Austria from February 26 through May 13, 2008.
The Taiwan-based airline is carrying near 120 delicate pieces of art, about a third of which have never before been exhibited outside of the National Palace Museum. Using three mid-February flights to bring the fragile art works to Vienna, EVA is carefully following strict handling and safety procedures with every piece.  EVA is also extending “The Art of Service” theme to its Vienna-bound passengers by inviting them to be its guests for this exhibition.  It is giving passengers on its Vienna flights special invitation cards entitling them to free admission to “Treasures from the National Palace Museum, Taiwan” during the run of the exhibition at the KHM.

Bridge between Taipei and Vienna, cultures of Asia and Europe
EVA has distinguished itself with excellent safety rankings and outstanding quality service since the day it was formed.  Now, EVA is distinguishing itself by linking cultures between two of the world’s most renowned museums and connecting the art of Middle Europe and Asia.  The airline created this bridge 17 years ago when it became the first Taiwanese carrier to fly to Vienna.  EVA Air has continued to operate this service via a Vienna-Bangkok-Taipei route, successfully establishing itself in the Austrian travel market. EVA uses an advanced Airbus 330-200 to fly the route three times a week – Monday, Thursday, and Saturday.

The collections of the National Palace Museum in Taipei, renowned as the world´s most extensive and exquisite assemblage of Chinese art, derive from a tradition of imperial acquisitions that spanned a millennium. The collection now includes more than 650,000 objects, making the National Palace one of the largest museums in the world. Ancient ritual jades and bronze vessels, highlights from the museum´s world-famous collection of ceramics and porcelain, precious lacquer and enamel work, objects made of gold, and ivory and bamboo carvings, in addition to works by some of the most famous Chinese calligraphy masters and painters, are being shown alongside selections from among precious books and documents. The Vienna exhibition offers a fascinating introduction into the art of one of the world´s oldest civilizations, and is reciprocal for “Splendor of the Baroque and Beyond:  Great Hapsburg Collectors – Masterpieces from the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna” presented from October 20, 2007 through February 24, 2008 at the National Palace Museum, Taipei.
