EVA Air and Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration work together to promote tourism in the Yangtze River Delta area

EVA Air and Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration (SMTA) today hosted a joint press conference in Taipei to announce their mutual cooperation in promoting tourism to the Yangtze River Delta area. The conference was hosted by Mr. James Jeng, EVA’s President, and SMTA representative Mr. K. C. Su. Many key travel agents from North America and the local area were also invited to participate in the event.

Mr. James Jeng stated that since the introduction of regular flights across the Taiwan Strait, the travel market between Taiwan and Mainland China has boomed. EVA and its subsidiary company UNI Air together fly to 14 destinations in Mainland China. There are over 50 flights every week and among them, 24 flights are to the three major gateways of Shanghai, Hanzhou and Ningbo. EVA and UNI offer the

highest flight frequency between Taiwan and the Yangtze River Delta.

Mr. K.C. Su, the representative of the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration, said: “EXPO 2010 Shanghai China will start on May 1 2010 and will raise awareness of the Yangtze River Delta region as a tourism destination. EVA Air is renowned for its excellent service, extensive flight network and safety record. As working partners EVA Air and the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration will promote tourism to the Yangtze River Delta area by selecting renowned travel agents in North America and Taiwan to create tour packages for visitors to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the region.” 

As part of the mutual cooperation , EVA Air will deploy a B747-400 aircraft to use many cabin utensils such as head rest covers, paper cups and tray sheets to contain images promoting EXPO 2010 Shanghai China. EVA Air’s in-flight magazine and videos will also introduce the mutual cooperative project to passengers.

EVA will work with its North America travel agents to design touring packages combining Taiwan and the Yangtze River Delta area in one itinerary.

EXPO 2010 Shanghai China is one of the world’s highest-profile expositions and is estimated to attract more than 70 million visitors. With its extensive service network both internationally and across Mainland China, EVA Air will become the key airline for tourists from Taiwan and North America planning to tour the Yangtze River Delta area.
