EVA Air and Air New Zealand Initiate Code-Share Agreement Extend Connections in Northeast Asia, Oceania markets
Star Alliance members EVA Air and Air New Zealand initiated a code-share agreement on 02 November, 2018, expanding service networks in Northeast Asia and Oceania. Passengers will have codeshare options from Taipei to major destinations in Japan or Seoul in South Korea operated by EVA Air, as well as codeshare options operated by Air New Zealand from Taipei to Auckland, and onto major cities in New Zealand, as well as Brisbane to both Auckland and Christchurch. Starting from the second half of December, passengers can travel on these codeshare services.
EVA’s Executive Vice President of Corporate Planning Div. Albert Liao says the new code-share will further strengthen Star Alliance’s flight network and give passengers more options to plan both business and leisure itineraries from Taiwan and New Zealand. “With just one easy stop in Taipei, passengers can take advantage of EVA’s flexible flight schedule to easily fly onward to Japan and South Korea and vice versa.”
Air New Zealand Chief Network Strategy and Alliances Officer Nick Judd says the airline is excited to be working closely with EVA Air which is well respected in the market for its aircraft and customer offering. “This agreement with EVA will leverage the strengths of each airline’s network, ultimately making travel easier and more convenient for our customers.”
New Zealand has rich tourism attractions. Aside from the woolly sheep roaming meadows and mountainsides, tourists often visit to experience the mythical world of “The Lord of the Rings” in real life to have an authentic Middle-earth experience. Visitors can also learn about New Zealand’s Maori culture and history by visiting attractions such as Te Puia in Rotorua. Other cities such as Auckland, also known as the City of Sails, and Wellington, the capital of New Zealand both offer a multitude of cultural, dining and outdoor experiences and attractions.
Star Alliance network currently offers more than 18,800 daily flights to 1,317 airports in 193 countries. Since joining Star Alliance in 2013, EVA has steadily added more passenger benefits and conveniences by working with 18 partner airlines, such as Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines and Air Canada, to extend routes, increase frequency and give travelers seamless services to every corner of the world.
