Malaysia is a key visitor source market of Taiwan with the number of visitors growing every year. The Tourism and Travel Department, New Taipei City Government has officially announced the launch of “New Taipei City, New Adventure!” promotion at a joint press conference held in JW Marriott, Kuala Lumpur. From September 20 to 22, the Tourism and Travel Department is organising the New Taipei City Travel Fair at Nu Sentral Shopping Mall, featuring Shou Shin Bou, HiWalk, Shen’ao Rail Bike, and Jiufen CHIPAO, to introduce the newest and most popular tourist attractions along New Taipei City’s Mountain-Ocean Line, sharing the most delicious souvenirs, and conducting fun experiential activities – inviting Malaysians to gain firsthand experience of the excitement and beauty of New Taipei City.

According to statistics from the Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications Republic of China (Taiwan) (MOTC), the number of Malaysian visitors travelling to Taiwan exceeded 520,000 in 2018, ranking number one among ASEAN countries, and as many as 70% of those were return visitors. Commissioner Chang Chi-Chiang of New Taipei City Tourism and Travel Department, pointed out that New Taipei City has always been a must-visit city among Malaysian tourists coming to Taiwan, and Jiufen, Tamsui, Shifen, and Yeliu, are the most popular destinations that all Malaysian tourists will visit. For Malaysian tourists to always have different experiences regardless of how many times they have visited the city, New Taipei City Government has established the tourism brand “Route 2 Taiwan” this year, and devised itineraries featuring 8 major secret attractions, aiming to present Malaysian tourists different landscapes of New Taipei City. The 8 hidden gems in New Taipei City include Tamsui-Kavalan Trails, Shen’ao Rail Bike, Shen’ao Fishing Village, and Laomei Green Reef, bringing Malaysian tourists brand-new experiences of New Taipei City.

Since 2009, New Taipei City and EVA Air have cooperated to launch many overseas tourism promotions, achieving great results along the way. Taiwan Taxi Tour offers charter service coupons, so that tourists can visit new attractions in New Taipei City more conveniently. Taiwan’s leading e-commerce travel platform, KKday, is also offering up to 20% discount on various one-day trips in New Taipei City.
