For the purpose to control the spread of the new Coronal epidemic, Taiwan immigration has announced a restriction to Mainland China/Hong Kong/Macau resident visit or transfer to/from Taiwan, meanwhile certain countries have issued a ban "Non-residents who have traveled to Mainland China within 14 days will be denied entry". In compliance with Taiwan government’s epidemic prevention policy, EVA Air is reducing flights to / from Mainland China. Starting from February 10th to April 29th, EVA will cut down its cross-strait route network to five destinations in China, including Beijing, Shanghai Pudong, Shanghai Hongqiao, Xiamen and Chengdu.

EVA Air will launch a new service between Taipei and Phuket, starting on 2 April, 2020. The airline will serve the route with an Airbus A330-200, configured for 252 passengers with 24 in Royal Laurel Class business and 228 in Economy.

EVA Air will launch flights to three more destinations in Japan in 2019, complementing the eight gateways it is serving now. Subject to government approvals, EVA will initiate flights from Taoyuan International Airport near Taipei, Taiwan to Nagoya, Aomori and Matsuyama, starting in the second quarter and continuing through the third.
