Kaohsiung
Kaohsiung is Taiwan's largest industrial center and the second most populated city after New Taipei City. Located in the south of Taiwan island, it is known as the "Harbor Capital" of Taiwan. Kaohsiung offers many attractions, including the Love River, the Lotus Pond, Qijin Island, Mt. Shou, the Former British Consulate at Takao, Sizihwan and the 814 ft-tall 85 Sky Tower. Take a day trip to the nearby Hakka village of Meinong to experience traditional Hakka culture, and find out about Meinong paper umbrella art.
If you take the MRT to Formosa Boulevard station, you should stop off and take photos of the fabulous Dome of Light which is the world's biggest glass art installation created by Italian artist Narcissus Quagliata. Kaohsiung has 11 districts, and Cijin with its fresh seafood and beautiful beaches is one of its most popular islands. Visitors can explore the island by bike and visit the Tianhou Temple, or enjoy fishing down by the shore.
