LOT Polish Airlines was established on January 1st, 1929. As one of the oldest airlines LOT has come a long way since its first aircraft, Junkers, designed with limited seating and a yearly carriage of several hundred passengers. In 1930, LOT Polish Airlines joined the International Air Transportation Association (IATA). In 1989, LOT became the first carrier in Eastern Europe to fly western-made Boeing 767.

SAS (Scandinavian Airlines System) was founded in August 1946 as a consortium of the national airlines of Denmark Norway and Sweden. In the 1960s, it became the first airline in the world to fly over the North Pole and in 1962 was awarded the Christopher Columbus Prize - often called the Nobel Prize of communication - in recognition of its pioneering transpolar flights. Shenzhen Airlines Co., Ltd, was founded in November 1992 and started operations on September 17 of the following year. With Air China and Shenzhen International Total Logistics (Shenzhen) Co, Ltd as its major shareholders, Shenzhen Airlines focuses on passenger, cargo and mail transportation.

Singapore Airlines (SIA)' history can be traced back to 1st May 1947, when Malayan Airways operated its first commercial flight linking Singapore with Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and Penang. The airline was later renamed Malaysian Airways (1963) and Malaysia-Singapore Airlines (1966), which was split in two in 1972, creating Malaysian Airline System (since renamed Malaysia Airlines) and SIA. Over a period of more than half a century, SIA has earned a reputation as an innovative market leader, combining a quality product with excellent service.

South African Airways (SAA) celebrated its 78th Anniversary in 2012 and is one of the oldest airlines in the world.
