Beijing

Beijing in northern China is the capital of China. It is one of the most populous capital cities in the world. Beijing borders on Tianjin Municipality to the southeast and Hebei Province to the north, west, south, and east. As the last of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, Beijing has been the political center of the country for much of the past eight centuries. Beijing is renowned for its palaces, temples, gates and walls. As one of the oldest cities in the world, Beijing combines both the traditional and the modern. Beijing's ancient attractions, such as the Forbidden City, Yonghe Temple and the Beijing Temple of Confucius, stand side by side with modern buildings such as the Bird's Nest Stadium and the Water Cube. Besides the magnificent ancient sites, don't forget to visit dazzling places to shop such as the malls on Wangfujing Street and Nanluoguxiang. Take a day trip to the Great Wall and the Ming Tombs.
