Chongqing, formerly known as Chungking, is a major city in southwestern mainland China. Chongqing is at the end of that part of the Yangtze River that is navigable by large ships. It is a major starting point for cruises on the Yangtze. From Chongqing, you can take a boat to visit the Three Gorges, the Fengjing Ghost City, the White Emperor City and the Lesser Three Gorges. Chongqing offers many interesting attractions, including the Three Gorges Museum, the Hongya cave, the Great Hall of the People and the ancient town of Ciqikou.
