Hohhot

Hohhot, the blue city in Mongolian, is the capital of Inner Mongolia. The color blue is associated with the sky, eternity and purity in Mongol culture. Hohhot is home to forty-one different ethnic groups and lies between the Yinshan Mountains and the Yellow River. When visiting a place with such ethnic Mongolian features, you must not miss out the huge and spectacular expanse of the Gegentala Grassland. Gegentala means "a summer resort" in Mongolian. Travelers will enjoy the local culture as they are treated in a very courteous way. Sending a hada, for example, is a greeting gift made with a piece of silk. The Zhaojun Tomb, known also as the "green tomb" is so-called because it is surrounded by perpetually green grass. It is a huge man-made earthen mound constructed to commemorate a great woman who is one of the Four Great Beauties of Ancient China.
