Sapporo is the fifth-largest city in Japan and the largest city in Hokkaido. It is home to settlements of the indigenous Ainu people. Sapporo has many parks. Odori Park is one of them and lies in the heart of the city. Because of its location, it hosts many events and festivals throughout the year.

The Sapporo Snow Festival is the major event in the city. It is well-known for its ice sculpture competition which takes place at the Odori Park at the beginning of February. People all over the world come to visit the amazing ice sculptures which include igloos. The 480 ft tall Sapporo TV Tower remains one of the city's most visited landmarks as it offers beautiful views of Sapporo. On the ground floor of the Sapporo TV Tower, there is an exhibition about to the history of the structure. Odori Park slices through Sapporo city connecting many of the popular attractions, such as the Sapporo TV Tower and various museums and galleries.
