Jinan
Jinan is the capital of Shandong Province and referred to as the Spring City because of its 72 artesian springs. It has played a significant role in history from the beginning of civilization and has nowadays evolved into a major national administrative, economic, and transport hub. Numerous springs gush out from underground, converging into rivers and lakes with a daily flow capacity of over 3500 cubic ft in normal years. The most popular of the springs is Baotu Spring public park in the heart of Jinan city. Besides springs, the Shandong Museum, which is one of the largest museums in the country, is also located in Jinan. It occupies a building covering over 20 acres and houses a collection of more than 210,000 historical artifacts.
