 A:

 Q:Is this a two-way messaging service? 
 A:Yes. However, SMS communication can only be initiated from the air. A cellphone user on the ground can communicate with a passenger in the air, but only by replying to an SMS already sent to their phone from the aircraft. 
 Q:

What is the cost of sending and receiving a message? Are both sender and receiver charged?

The cost will vary depending on the situation:

Cost for sending a message is the same as the cost for sending a message overseas and is decided by the telecom service provider.

Passenger will not be charged until the message has been read. The rate is US$1.50 per message.

 
 Q:Can messages be sent in both Chinese & English? 
 A:Yes.  
 Q:Under what circumstances could a ground to air message not reach a passenger? 
 A:
  1. If the aircraft has already landed. In this situation, the sender will still be charged.
  2. If the telecom service provider of the person on the ground has blocked ground to air messages.
 
 Q:Which aircraft offer SMS services? 
 A:All EVA Air’s B777 and A330 aircraft offer SMS service from every seat.
 
 Q:What can I do if I have any inquiries about my payment record? 
 A:

 Q:Can I send/receive SMS messages from my cellphone aboard the aircraft? 
 A:No. Passengers are not allowed to turn on their cellphone at any time during their flight but you can use the inflight entertainment system to send/receive SMS messages. To send a message, use the handset to navigate the on-screen keyboard (or use the touch-screen display in Premium Laurel Class aboard A330 aircraft and all seats aboard B777 aircraft)
