Sporting Equipment

Notes

  • When sporting equipment is checked as normal baggage and exceeds your free baggage allowance, you may need to pay an excess baggage fee.
  • If your sporting equipment is of high value, it is recommended that you purchase baggage insurance before travelling, as it may provide you with a more comprehensive insurance coverage.
  • Clothes or other personal items should not be packed in the same containers as your sporting goods.
  • Some different regulations and charges apply to special baggage; you can contact EVA Air Reservations for more details up until 48 hours prior to your departure.
How Excess Baggage Fees Are Charged for Canoe/Hang-gliding/Kitesurfing/Paragliding/Windsurfing/Surfboarding Equipment

Weight Concept: There will be an oversize baggage fee if the length of the bag is over 158cm

  • One bag up to 158cm in length: No charge
  • One bag over 158cm in length: Charge of USD 150

Example:

If you fly Economy class (30kg baggage allowance) with two pieces of check-in baggage and one surfboard bag (length 160cm) weighing a total of 35kg, you will be charged for 5kg of excess baggage and USD 150 for the oversize fee.

Piece Concept: There will be a fee if the bag is oversized or/and overweight

If you fly Economy class and bring:

  • One bag (23kg) up to 158cm in length: No charge
  • One bag (23kg) 158–203cm in length: Charge of USD 150/CAD 190

  • One bag (26kg) over 203cm in length: Charge of USD 80/CAD 100 + USD 300/CAD 380 = USD 382/CAD 480

Example:

  • If you fly Premium Economy class (two pieces of baggage allowance) with one piece of check-in baggage (22kg) and one surfboard bag (length 160cm), you will be charged USD 150/CAD 190.
  • If you fly Economy class (two pieces of baggage allowance) with two pieces of check-in baggage (15kg/21kg) and one surfboard bag (length 210cm), you will be charged for one piece plus USD 300/CAD 380.
