EVA Wins SKYTRAX 5-Star Airline Certification Eighth Year in a Row

May 11, 2023

Keeps passenger care, attention to detail, innovation as priorities

EVA Air has once again earned SKYTRAX’s 5-Star Airline certification. Only 10 airlines in the world have been awarded 5-Star certifications and EVA is the only one in Taiwan to receive the distinction. It’s an honor the airline has merited for eight consecutive years, starting in 2016. It again confirms the strength of EVA's service quality. Information about EVA services, fares and routes, in addition to booking and buying options, is available at www.evaair.com.

“Reaching the highest bar to win 5-Stars in SKYTRAX’s annual airline audits for eight years in a row is both an honor and the best affirmation we could receive of the good and hard work all our employees perform every day. It motivates us to continuously improve our services,” said EVA President Clay Sun. “We’ve had the goal to be the world's best service airline since 1989 when EVA was established and that has not changed. We will not lose our focus on improving and innovating or introducing more personalized services.”

SKYTRAX is a world-renowned aviation research authority that awards airlines one-to-five stars annually after comprehensive evaluations and professional analyses of quality standards for close to 350 airlines around the globe. Categories considered include airport services, seat comfort, inflight service supplies, cabin comfort, catering, in-flight entertainment, cabin crew services and more. These star designations have served as important reference points for airline passengers. In addition to EVA, the other nine airlines to receive the highest 5-Star honors for 2023 include Singapore Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, Hainan Airlines and Garuda Indonesia.

During nearly a month of close SKYTRAX inspections, approximately 800 functions on or related to EVA flights throughout Europe, the United States, Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia, including the full range of services on the official website, digital services, airport services, inflight services, cabin comfort and more were scrutinized. Inspectors reviewed Economy, Premium Economy and Royal Laurel Classes separately, starting at the airport counters and drilling down to examine details such as cabin-interior cleaning. SKYTRAX inspectors relentlessly pursued their tasks to ensure that each detail of airline service represents the highest standards of 5-Star certification.

EVA’s entire staff upholds the highest standards. In their 2023 analyses, SKYTRAX inspectors highlighted EVA’s smooth boarding order, inflight services, flight attendant service skills, inflight tableware and inflight entertainment system. They singled out cabin cleanliness, amenity kits, cabin safety and seat comfort in EVA’s Boeing-787 Royal Laurel Class as standouts.

The pandemic forced EVA to adjust the limited operations that were possible to strike a balance between epidemic prevention and service quality. It employed the latest   technology to accelerate digital conveniences such as automatic check-in and electronic onboard reading materials such as newspapers and magazines. At the same time, it focused on continuously improved services, launching new inflight cuisines created in collaboration with Michelin-starred Chef Nakamura, Chef Paul Lee and Ching-Biao Huang, the gourmet Chinese food celebrity chef. It also introduced award-winning inflight beverages, featuring “Simple Kaffa” by World Barista Champion Berg Wu and VWI from World Brewers Cup Champion Chad Wang. As global tourism regains pre-pandemic momentum, EVA plans to be prepared to consistently offer Five-Star Airline services throughout its operations.
